The World Football Challenge is an exhibition international club football competition featuring football clubs from Europe andNorth America, which has been held since the summer of 2009. There was no WFC in 2010, due to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.Chelsea F.C. are the reigning champions.
The 2011 World Football Challenge was held in July and August of 2011. It featured thirteen different squads meeting up in fourteen matches across the United States. The tournament format was considerably different than the 2009 event, due to the increase in number of teams. This is the first WFC event that MLS teams participated in.

For Vancouver, this match represents a chance to demonstrate that they are better than their Major League Soccer record indicates. Manchester City
Manager Roberto Mancini enjoyed an exceptional season with Manchester City last campaign, culminating in an FA Cup championship win over Stoke City at Wembley Stadium.
