The Miami Dolphins(0-4) look to earn their first win of the season when they travel to MetLife Stadium to battle the New York Jets(2-3) on Monday Night Football.
The Jets who started the 2011 season 2-0, have lost their three previous games, and look to avoid their first four game losing streak since 2007.
New York is coming off last Sunday’s loss to the New England Patriots 30-21, giving up 446 yards of offense to their AFC East division rival. The Jets have overcome a lot of adversity the last two seasons under head coach Rex Ryan, and aren’t worried quite yet.
“This team is not going to (break) just because we’re 2-3 right now,” Ryan said. “That’s when you get stronger. That’s when you come in together and you build character. This is a resilient bunch. I’m telling you, we’ll see. I believe in this football team. I don’t see us losing our confidence. I think maybe people outside of that room are going to lose confidence. We’re not. I’m confident in the fact that I see signs of us getting better. We have to, obviously. This is a critical game for us Monday night, and that’s where our focus is going to be.”
The Miami Dolphins are 0-4 and coming off their Bye week. Miami is off to its worst start since 2007, when they started the season 0-13.
The worst thing that could have happened to Miami, did, when quarterback Chad Henne was injured in the Dolphins week four loss to the San Diego Chargers 26-16. Henne separated his shoulder in the first quarter and will miss the remainder of the 2011 season.
Matt Moore will replace Henne behind center for the Dolphins. Moore was 17 of 26 for 167 yards in the loss against the Chargers.
“He’s been in the huddle as a starting quarterback before,” coach Tony Sparano said. “I think the guy has good leadership qualities. He’s run off a string of wins, four or five wins up there in Carolina. He’s a confident guy.”
Moore started six games for the Carolina Panthers last season, before a shoulder injury ended his season.
